Commissioner, Coach Ewerem at war over sacked players

Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports,  Mika Amanokha, has sacked nine non- productive Bendel Insurance players.
Addressing the players during their training session at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium  Benin- City, Amanokha said the government was no longer ready to tolerate non-productive players in the camp. He averred that only players who are ready to deliver would be left for the remaining part of the NNL football season.
He also charged the regular players to up their games or be shown the way out, noting that Bendel Insurance can still get promotion to the elite league if only the  players can show more commitment to their games.
“I have no apology to anybody in taking this decision. We have discovered that some of you are just in camp doing nothing to help the club, and government can no longer condole such lackadaisical attitudes. We have decided to fire nine of you that are not contributing anything meaningful to the club. And keeping you here would mean wasting your time, so it is better for you to go elsewhere and better your football career.
“Therefore the Executive Governor His Excellency Godwin Obaseki has directed me to sack nine of you from the camp of Insurance FC. So I wish you blissful playing career wherever you may find yourself.”
Meanwhile the embattled coach Roland Ewere who has been under intense pressure to quit his job has denied knowledge of the sacked players.
According to him; “I ’m not aware if the commissioner has sacked players from my camp or not, as the head of the technical team, I should be informed and be carried along, again I’m supposed to be the one that will give them list of non- productive players to be fired.
We are in a critical situation most especially now that the NNL is coming to an end, no one knows the players that God would use to deliver results, and it is not possible to play 22 players in a game, I want to get results, so I need good players that will give us results.”
