Ex-Commissioner of Police, Frank A.
Odita, would unravel the upsurge of kidnapping in Nigeria in recent
years and discuss ways of combating security lapses at the forthcoming
Nigeria Media Nite Out Award slated for Septempber 17 in Lagos.
In a release issued by the organisers of
the award in Lagos, the event, which will take place at Airport Hotel,
will provide a forum to address the societal menace, as well as reward
talented journalists who had excelled in the past one year.
The event, which debuted eleven years
ago, to recognize excellence and achievements of media practitioners in
print, electronic and social media, was created to specifically
celebrate media excellence in Nigeria.
According to the founder, Shola
Olugbemiro, “Nigeria Media Nite Out Award was conceived 11 years ago,
with a view to carrying media practitioners along as an appreciation of
their hitherto unrecognized contributions to the development and
emancipation of the Nigerian nation.”
Now in its 11th year of successful
outing, this edition promises to be a grander outing than the previous
ones as nominations and nominees have already been made public by the
planning committee made up of seasoned journalists.
The event will see the conferment of
awards on illustrious Nigerians who have succeeded in various aspects of
public and private sectors.
These include top politicians, captains of industry, top government functionaries, socialites and media owners.
According to the organizing committee,
this year’s event would be another opportunity for media practitioners
to come under one umbrella to celebrate their own colleagues in an
atmosphere of conviviality, where entertainment and intellectual
bantering will be at the best.
