Antonio Conte has confirmed that Victor Moses will definitely miss Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Roma on Wednesday due to injury.
The Nigerian international picked up a knock during the first half of Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday and had to be replaced by summer signing Davide Zappacosta.Chelsea were unable to find an equaliser at Selhurst Park as they ended up crashing to their second defeat in as many games.
The Blues will now have to dust themselves down as they prepare to welcome Roma to Stamford Bridge in their next Champions League game on Wednesday night.
However, Conte has all but confirmed that Moses will not be available for selection for that game.
Conte told his post-match news conference at Selhurst Park on Saturday: “During the game another important player, Moses, had an injury, and I hope to have him back very soon.”
He added: “For sure Moses is out [of the Roma game] because of his injury. I don’t know if it’s serious, I hope not.”
However, there was some good news for Chelsea fans as Conte confirmed that he is hoping to have Alvaro Morata back available for selection again after he missed the Palace game with a minor hamstring problem.
The defeat on Saturday left defending champions Chelsea in fifth place in the table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after eight games of the new campaign.
