As
the world marks the 2017 World Heart Day, Mamador, a brand from PZ
Wilmar urges Nigerians to take better care of their hearts by engaging
in healthy habits that will help them live healthier.
As part of activities to commemorate the
day, the brand in partnership with the Nigerian Heart Foundation, the
Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation embarked on
mass heart awareness campaign across government agencies and
parastatals to inform and educate the civil servants on the best ways to
maintain a healthy heart.
Since year 2000, the World Heart Day
organised by the World Heart Federation (WHF) is commemorated on
September, 29 across the globe, as the world’s biggest heart awareness
intervention programme against cardiovascular diseases. Explaining the
idea behind this year’s event, President of the World Heart Federation,
Mr. David Wood said “we inspire millions of people around the world to
be heart healthy”.
Speaking at the media parley to
commemorate the day, the Marketing Director, PZ Wilmar Mr. Kalyan
Bandyopadhyay said this year’s theme is a call to action for everyone to
be involved in the quest for a healthy heart. “We believe awareness is
critical and that is why we have continuously engaged our esteemed
consumers on healthy life style which include what they consume. The
Mamador brand believes that the secret to a healthy living is closely
linked to how healthy the heart is and advocates that consumers make
decisions and adjustments that will favour their heart health. Mamador
will continue to champion and advocate the cause for a healthy heart
among Nigerians, as the heart friendly cooking oil helping consumers
enjoy their favourite meals with no worries.” Mr. Bandyopadhyay said
It would be recalled that as part of the
initiative to sensitize consumers on how best to achieve a healthy
heart, Mamador in 2015 launched its Million Hearts Mission initiative to
educate Nigerians. Over 1 million consumers across Nigeria have been
reached with the campaign which includes providing consumers with heart
healthy recipes as well as with heart healthy life style tips, fitness
classes, free Blood Pressure (BP) and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks.
Activities for this year’s World Heart
Day celebration was held at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja where
the Federal Civil Servants had free health screening and were educated
on healthy hearts products they can use to keep their heart healthy.
On Mamador’s partnership with the
Nigerian Heart Foundation, the Category Marketing Manager, Mamador,
Chioma Mbanugo said Mamador will continue to champion and advocate the
cause for a healthy heart amongst Nigerians, as the heart friendly
cooking oil and will always support government initiative that promotes
the cause because every Nigerian needs heart friendly products.

The Executive Director of the Nigerian
Heart Foundation (NHF), Dr. Kingsley Akinroye commended the brand for

necessary particularly now that the government is driving at a change in
the attitude of Nigerians towards healthy living.
