
The fiery clash began when the pair debated over who should have the final say on Brexit. But the heated exchange soon escalated to a dispute about promises made by Labour during June’s snap election.
Labour’s Heidi Alexander hit out at Mr Duncan Smith and said he “must have amnesia” because he could not remember that “increasing numbers” said they did not want Brexit and the results of the general election in June suggested that.
The argument was sparked after Labour MP Keir Starmer’s announcement that Tory rebels and Labour will join forces to push for MPs to be given the power to veto a final Brexit deal.
Ms Alexander spoke fiercely defended her party and said that after the British election “increasing numbers of people” said they did not want Brexit and this is why Britain is in an “almighty mess”.

Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith and Heidi Alexander got into a heated row about the EU withdrawal bill.Mr Duncan Smith slapped down the Ms Alexander and said that Labour’s decision to try and thwart Brexit is going against the majority vote of the British people, to which he said was “pretty awful”.
Ms Alexander hit back and said: “Iain, what the Labour party said at the last general election - we said that we would put jobs first. That we would make that the priority in our negotiations.
“You can make all the faces you like.”
But Mr Duncan Smith demanded the Labour Party “told the British people a porky pie” during the June snap election.
When questioned if it was ok for Labour to break its pledge to the British people, Ms Alexander responded: “What I think British people want is a Government that is going to put their interests first and not be left with a Prime Minister that is running scared and not being left to people like you.”
The EU withdrawal bill is made to transfer EU laws into British laws. But MPs have demanded 300 amendments to the bill.

Writing in the Sunday Times, Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer said that MPs must get “final say on whether to approve the withdrawal agreement and how best to implement it”.
