Everton’s caretaker boss David Unsworth still wants the managerial position at the club on a full-time basis.
“This is an amazing club. No matter how long I’m here I’ll give my best.
“The people who matter know my feelings, that goes without saying. But what will be will be,” he said on Friday.
“I’ve spoken to the chairman every day and the owner three or four times. Communication is fine. If it’s me, wonderful, if not I’ll shake the hand of whoever it is.”
Unsworth has been in charge of the Toffees first team since Ronald Koeman was sacked as manager of the club following their 5-2 Premier League defeat against Arsenal last month.
Former England manager Sam Allardyce, who was considered a frontrunner for the Toffees vacancy, this week ruled himself out of the running for the position after previously stating that he was interested.
Meanwhile the Toffees could also face a difficult time in trying to recruit Marco Silva given that Watford show no interest in parting ways with him at this point in time.
