Manchester City have spent the summer attempting to convince Arsenal to let Alexis Sanchez go.
But, despite the Chile international having just a year remaining on his current contract, the Gunners have refused to play ball.
Pep Guardiola is still eying more reinforcements despite spending over £200million on fresh faces such as Danilo, Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claims the Spaniard has identified Hazard as a potential Sanchez alternative in the wake of Arsenal’s reluctance to negotiate.
The €119m-rated Belgian winger has been tipped to leave for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Reports have even suggested Chelsea could let him move to Real as part of any deal that would see Gareth Bale move to Stamford Bridge.
But Don Balon say Guardiola wants Hazard to be his marquee signing.
It is said he has even talked with the former Lille star’s people, telling them he wants him to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Following those talks, Guardiola has supposedly instructed City chiefs to try and land him late in the transfer window.
Chelsea are likely to play hardball over any deal, however, regardless of how hard City try to sign him.
And news that the Blues forward is in their sights will no doubt boost Arsenal, who finally appear to have fended off their interest in Sanchez.
Hazard has helped Chelsea win the Premier League twice since joining back in 2012.
