Chelsea are preparing to raid Southampton before the close of the transfer window, with three Saints footballers in their sights according to stories.
Antonio Conte is desperate to reinforce his side while he still has the opportunity. The champions’ squad looks short on numbers, especially with Champions League football back on the agenda this campaign.
As reported by The Express Chelsea want Virgil van Dijk, Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand.Van Dijk has been linked with an exit from St Mary’s for most of the summer with the footballer desperate for a move. He’s put in a transfer request and has been training individually from the rest of the squad.
Full-back Bertrand is a former Chelsea footballer, performing in the successful 2012 Champions League final.
Portuguese defender Soares is being lined up to finalize with Victor Moses.
The trio could cost Chelsea as much as £150million, with Southampton reluctant to offload any of the footballers.
There could be another issue for Chelsea interest in the footballers from Liverpool and Tottenham.
Liverpool are believed to be keen on both Van Dijk and Bertrand while Spurs have a stake in Soares.

Deal Close: Chelsea star ready to complete dream £50m transfer to Euro giants

Chelsea forward Diego Costa has reportedly rejected a profitable move to China as he is instead determined to accomplish his wish of rejoining Atletico Madrid.
The 28-year-old, now on strike at his parents home in Brazil, was told by manager Antonio Conte at the end of last campaign that he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
After seeing a mega-money transfer to the Far East break down in January, Costa has since made it no secret that Atletico, where he has earlier spent six seasons of his career, is the only club he will consider signing for.
As reported by The Sun, the Spain international earlier turned down recent interest from Shanghai SIPG and Tianjin Quanjian, both of whom were also prepared to spend him around £13m to join until the New Year.
A separate story in Spanish daily AS suggests that the transfer saga is close to finishing, though, as Atleti have ready to pay Chelsea £41m up front and an extra £9m in potential add-ons to get their man.
Due to the transfer embargo imposed on Los Rojiblancos in June, they will not be permitted to register Costa on their records until January, but he has no business of spending time elsewhere on loan.

Chelsea set to miss out on signing £12m highly-demanded defender

Chelsea and Tottenham appear set to miss out on full-back target Santiago Arias as Swansea close in on the PSV ace.
The Blues have been cashing Arias for weeks and have recognised him as a viable target to boost their wing-back areas.
Tottenham are hoping to further fund for their defence after Davinson Sanchez joined from Ajax this week.
However, Southampton are favourites to beat the Premier League duo to Arias’ signature.
That comes from the Sun on Sunday, who suggested the 25-year-old is top of Swansea’s list of targets.
The Head coach Paul Clement is hoping to complete a £12million deal and wrap up months of interest in the footballer.
The Colombian full-back is supposedly informed about Chelsea’s interest. However, he’s open to transfer to the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans have the cash to spend after letting Gylfi Sigurdsson go to Everton in a £45m deal.
Arias is an attack-minded full-back that would fill Clement’s ideas.
Swansea lost 4-0 to Manchester United after conceding a second-half breakdown.
The Sun on Sunday suggests they are also in for free agent Lawrence Shankland, who has left Aberdeen.
