Eight ousted Catalan ministers Jailed By Spanish judge

Before appearing in court today (November 2), the prosecution had requested that eight of the former regional government ministers were jailed.
This means only one of the nine ministers who attended court today (November 2) has not been jailed.
The former Catalan ministers have been accused of sedition, rebellion and misusing public funds.
Former ministers who have been jailed are deputy vice president Oriol Junqueras, interior minister Joaquim Forn, justice minister Carles Mundo and foreign affairs minister Raul Romeva.
The prosecution requested that former business minister Santi Vila was bailed, and this was granted. Vila resigned before the regional parliament voted in favour of independence.
A European arrest warrant has also now been requested for former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont by a Spanish state prosecutor, as well as four other ministers who did not attend questioning at the High Court.
The ministers attempted to hold an independence referendum last month, however those trying to vote clashed with police as the government deemed it illegal.
Puigdemont later declared independence after he claimed 90% of those who voted were in favour of independence, although turnout was only 43%.
This led to the Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy dissolving the regional parliament and calling a snap election for December. He has also taken direct rule over the area.
